When (and How) to Add Files

Your Canvas courses have storage limits, so the best way to share files (e.g., documents, images, videos) with students is to use your TWU Google Drive. You can follow the steps in the "Google Drive and Canvas" Knowledge Base article.

It is a best practice to share files using your TWU Google Drive because:

you are less likely to run out of storage space in your Canvas course.
it is easy for you and your TAs/co-instructors to edit files without downloading the file from Canvas, editing the file, uploading the revised file to Canvas, and deleting the old version of the file.
you can set sharing permissions to "anyone at Texas Woman's University with the link" to help protect your intellectual property.
you can easily reuse files each semester by sharing the links in your new course.

You can share the links to your TWU Google Drive by creating a hyperlink in the Rich Content Editor of pages, assignments, discussions, and quizzes. You can also add an External URL to a Module for students to access. As an example, this course has external URL links in each module.
